McGill opened doors to global opportunities in law right after my second year in the Law Faculty, when I got to work on cross-border litigation matters for a European financial institution at a major Wall Street law firm. That summer, I was mentored by a very inspiring McGill Law graduate, Julie Bédard, who served as a role model as the only lawyer from Québec at my firm, and supported my clerkship applications.

McGill's insistence on training lawyers who can handle legal problems across geographic boundaries and legal systems made my career path possible.”

Following graduation, after a year working on a range of cross-border financing matters in New York, I was given the opportunity to clerk at the Court of Appeal for Ontario in Toronto thanks to the support of professors at McGill. While there, I was able to work on a wide array of legal issues, from international terrorism to commercial contracts.

McGill's unique bilingual, bi-juridical civil and common law program made it possible for me to eventually move to Paris, become a French, Canadian and U.S.-qualified lawyer, and work for global clients in the financial services sector from London and Geneva to Singapore and Tokyo. McGill's insistence on training lawyers who can handle legal problems across geographic boundaries and legal systems made my career path possible.

Most importantly, McGill has given me the opportunity to meet and become friends with some of the finest human beings from cities around the world, including the best man at my wedding.
