In February, John McCall MacBain, BA’80, LLD’14, and Dr. Marcy McCall MacBain created a $200 million flagship graduate scholarship program. To this day, it is the single-largest gift in Canadian history.

In May, we welcomed 7,587 new grads to the McGill Alumni Association at a convocation ceremony that was a sustainability first by being certified as a Gold Event by the McGill Office of Sustainability.
In June, students working with Engineers in Action started a summer-long project building a pedestrian footbridge in eSwatini, thanks to support from McGill Engineering and crowdfunding on Seeds of Change.
A new era of student well-being on campus
Based on best practices and developed with input from students, a new $14-million initiative includes the McGill Student Wellness Hub, which opened its doors in July, redesigning the way McGill provides physical and mental health services to students.
Starting in September, McGill Startup Tour showcased McGill’s entrepreneurship ecosystem in seven cities across the globe, bringing together McGill’s international alumni community of successful entrepreneurs, investors and VCs and making us all #mcgillproud in the process.

A Gay Revolution? The 50th Anniversary of the Partial Decriminalization of Queer Sex in Canada
In October, McGill Libraries celebrated the 50th anniversary of legalization of queer sex in Canada with an exhibition in the McLennan Library Building celebrating Quebec (and McGill’s) part in this major milestone.
